MINUTES OF THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING – 18 June 2026
Commander Occomy called the Membership Meeting of Wayne E. Marchand Post OK28, Department of the Philippines, to order at 1800 hours in the Post Home.
ROLL CALL:
The following Post Officers were absent from the meeting and excused by Commander Occomy: Legionnaire Gerena, Legionnaire Galindo, Legionnaire Rancloes, and Legionnaire Vazquez.
STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS
EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MINUTES:
The minutes of the 21 May Executive Committee Meeting and the 28 May Membership Meeting were available for review.
MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE:
The total Membership for 2026 is 358, broken down as follows: PUFL - 80; NEW – 69; RE-NEW - 200; TRANSFER-IN – 5.
HOUSE COMMITTEE:
Nothing significant to report.
FINANCE COMMITTEE:
The Post and Canteen Financial reports were provided for review.
Post Services Officer:
Assisted 2 service members with BDD claims; and 1 Veteran with VA Claims: total of 4 hours.
HISTORIAN/CHILDREN/YOUTH/AMERICANISM:
Nothing significant to report.
BUILDING AND GROUNDS:
Pending an update to replace the outside piping.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
Scholarship Committee, consisting of Legionnaires Gerena, Nelson, and Brassard, are reviewing the current annual scholarship process.
Post Financial Audit: IAW Section 10 of the By-Laws. The Audit is completed. Awaiting the report to be presented to the executive committee.
The previously approved $1,000.00 for Legionnaire Kwong to attend Service Officer training in the Philippines has not yet been distributed and will be distributed upon registration.
Upcoming significant events:
- 2027 Early Bird mailouts: June
- Independence Day BBQ: 4 July
NEW BUSINESS AND CORRESPONDENCE:
The Civil Air Patrol, Yokota Cadet Squadron Far East Encampment requested a grant for $500 to offset the cost of buses to support the travel of cadets and senior members from Kadena Airbase to from the Haneda Airport to Camp Fuji. The request was approved by unanimous vote.
Legionnaire Tomlin discussed the proposed purchase of Executive Committee shirts to support a more comfortable and professional appearance for Executive Committee members while representing American Legion Post OK28 at Legion events. Legionnaire Tomlin will conduct further research and present findings to the Executive Committee during the July Executive Committee meeting for consideration.
GOOD OF THE AMERICAN LEGION:
Clean-up of The Tomari International Cemetery clean-up will tentatively take place on Sunday, 28 June at 0900; If you’re interested in participating, please meet at Tomari International Cemetery.
Since no further business came before this Committee, Commander Ocommy adjourned the meeting at 1827 hours. The next Executive Committee Meeting will be held on 16 July at 1800 in accordance with the Post Constitution and By-Laws.
