MINUTES OF THE MEMBERSHIP MEETING – 28 May 2026

Commander Occomy called the Membership Meeting of Wayne E. Marchand Post OK28, Department of the Philippines, to order at 1801 hours in the Post Home.

ROLL CALL:

The following Post Officers were absent from the meeting and excused by Commander Occomy: Legionnairesm Mooney, Roper, Gerena, Vazquez and Galindo

STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS

EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MINUTES:

The minutes of the 21 May Executive Committee Meeting and the 25 April Membership Meeting were available for review and there being no additions, deletions or corrections, they stood as read.  

MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE: 

The total Membership for 2026 is 354, broken down as follows: PUFL - 80; NEW - 69RE-NEW - 200; TRANSFER-IN5.

               There were 4 new members voted on during the meeting bringing our 2026 post membership total to 358.

HOUSE COMMITTEE

Nothing significant to report.

FINANCE COMMITTEE:   

The Financial statements were available for review.

POST SERVICES OFFICER

Nothing significant to report. 

HISTORIAN/CHILDREN/YOUTH/AMERICANISM

               Nothing significant to report.  

BALLOTING OF APPLICATIONS

There were 7 new applicants voted on. Legionnaire Nelson motioned to accept the applicants as read; seconded by Legionnaire Linker; passed unanimously. 

There was 1 new member present to be sworn in.

BUILDING AND GROUNDS:

Nothing significant to report.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS:

               The Post financial Audit has been completed.

               Upcoming significant events:

NEW BUSINESS AND CORRESPONDENCE:

Nothing significant to report.

GOOD OF THE AMERICAN LEGION: 

Commander Occomy acknowledged and expressed his appreciation to all Post OK28 Legionnaires who volunteered their time and efforts to support both the Ernie Pyle Memorial Ceremony and the Memorial Day Ceremony.

The Post also celebrated outstanding success on the softball field, as both the Men's and Women's American Legion teams captured 1st Place at the 2026 PACWIDE Memorial Day Softball Tournament. The Men's team extended its remarkable championship streak to nine consecutive years.

The championship trophies were presented to the Commander in recognition of the teams' accomplishments. Legionnaire Nelson presented the Men's PACWIDE Championship Trophy, while Legionnaire Montgomery presented the Women's 1st Place PACWIDE Championship Trophy, as well as the 2nd Place plaque earned at the Queens of the Pacific Tournament held in Guam this past January.

There was $66 donated to the widow’s fund; the winner donated back to the fund.

The Tomari International Cemetery clean-up will tentatively take place on Sunday, 7 June @0900; if interested in participating, meet at the Tomari International Cemetery.

Since no further business came before this Membership meeting, Commander Occomy  adjourned the meeting at 1821 hours. The next Membership Meeting will be 1800 hours on 25 June 2026 in accordance with the Post Constitution and By-Laws.
